Regardless of whether the term is used colloquially or not, is "Northlake" really a place? Even if it may lack the typical ingredients of a neighborhood or community, does it have a unique history or sensory experience that distinguishes it from its urban neighbors--Fremont, Wallingford, and the University District? What makes Northlake Northlake, other than simply existing north of Lake Union?
This project is an attempt to begin answering these questions, starting with site explorations through the various sensory lenses.
